Gollum the Greedy
At the start of 2007 Microsoft hosted a competion known as DBP (Dream Build Play). The rules where to create a Xbox 360/Windows game using Microsoft's new framework XNA. Prices included the honor/horror of releasing your game upon Xbox Live Arcade, and cash prices ofcourse :).
I participated in the competition with Gollum the Greedy, in addition to that this was my first serious project. Gollum the Greedy is a traditional platformer taking heavy inspiration from Mario and Sonic. I was thinking of calling it Sorio at first. This title summed my feeling during the project up nicely, i felt Sorry™ for whoever played this game. You're sure to have some good laughs though! ;) Features:
- Move gollum though the levels by jumping and moving from left to the right.
- Collect rings to keep Gollum happy.
- Enemies are out to get Gollum, jump on their heads to take them out.
- Moving platforms.
- All character models are animated using skeletal animation.
- Ingame introduction scene.
- Looney Tunes title screen.
