Naastroids
Naastroids is loosely based on the cult classic Astroids, this project is done as an open school assignment. To create Naastroids we have used the XNA Framework 1.0 developed by Microsoft. Our choice went out to XNA because of it's "easy" nature and coolness factor of beign able to run it on Xbox 360.
Since this was our first project as a team this project turned out more or less like a practice sessions. In addition to that we only had around 20 days of our schooltime commited to this project. That said the results are pretty nice and most importantly this project was an excellent lesson for us. The next paragraph will summarize Naastroids' features.
- Pilot a spaceship across a galaxy filled with planets and enemy ships. Oh, and asteroids :)
- Asteroids can be shot at and destroyed.
- Enemies will try and take down the player using Artificial Intelligence.
- Powerups can be picked up and increase weapon strength.
- Naastroids utilizes a number of graphical features, including:
- Bloom effect on objects like planets and projectiles for accentuation.
- Asteroids are bumpmapped for more realistic effect.
- Asteroids are rendered using Hardware Instancing for substantial increase in FPS.
